Decarbonization - Episode 3 Pathway to Sustainability |
||
The quicker we exit 2021 the better. Let us all hope for a more civil discourse in 2022 about climate change and Covid, governance and diversity. KEI Network webinars Last week's concluding webinar on the pathway to sustainability can now be viewed HERE. It spelled out several critical elements for balancing the complex interaction between the energy transition, environmental respect, and economic prosperity. The series reinforced that markets are adapting to the forces and sources of change: climate change - true or false, energy volatility - particularly in Europe, emerging technologies - nuclear included, and geo-political activism. This week's webinar will be Justa Chat...no specific topic. Thursday 4pm MST at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85896241732 Hindsight 2021 Last January we forecast that rising inflation and the breakup of BIGtech would be most newsworthy. We ignored Covid and Trump as, well as just too obvious. Inflation as expected did rise and continues. But governments rather than breaking up BIGtech decided to introduce various regulatory options and tax 'em instead. The KEI Network introduced webinars in August to supplement it's weekly newsletters. Archived HERE. I'd like to express the Network's sincere appreciation to those who contributed to our weekly webinars in 2021 - the moderators and presenters, and the viewers too. The webinars served to diversify input and introduce the many Network's experts. Topics included the status of economic diversification, the role of innovation in technology, Canada's place in the Indo-Asia market, and Decarbonization and the balancing of energy, environment, and the economy - an Alberta perspective. Most popular was the discussion of how to protect against Ransomware, the threat of which continues. Foresight 2022 As for 2022, Covid and it's variants will continue to dominate public discourse including the public's frustration, agitating for more options than simply isolation. Rising interest rates will come as no surprise; the breadth and depth of the impact however will be considerable. We will continue to watch energy policy and technologies, ESG excesses, finance and cryptocurrencies, China and the dynamics of the Indo-Asia market, and finally - for Canada - the deepening east-west divide and US protectionist impact on free trade. Several topics of immediate interest surfaced in 2021 and are deserving of further investigation in 2022:
Stay tuned and we wish you and yours peace and prosperity in 2022. Sincerely, Perry Kinkaide Where Canada fits in the $74T Global economy |
